Welcome to ECOMARINE MANUTENTION (Lome - Togo)
BACK GROUND
In its quest to improve efficiency and engender productivity through effective competition between operators in all sectors, the government of Togo decided to open up the economy to increased private sector participation.
The opening up of the maritime industry to the private sector is envisaged to encourage operators to undertake the huge investment requirements for the modernization and the expansion of port infrastructure which before now was solely provided by the Port Authority in Lome.
This in turn will enhance efficiency in port cargo handling operations, improve the competitive advantage of the port of Lome, and increase throughput. It will also provide greater employment opportunities, and serve as a major generator of vital public sector revenue in forms of taxes and related activities.
The government divesture programme in maritime sector provides for the creation of four concession agreements; namely, two for General Cargo Operations. It is within this context that ECOMARINE MANUTENTION has been granted the second concession for container terminal operations in the port of Lome.
